Open mic: Lolita

In march 2015 at the age of 20, after 3 months in the hospital ( ICU), 10 days in a coma, 2 surgeries, 3 minor procedures and tons of tests and medical exams I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma stage IV, a rare type of blood cancer that attacks specifically the lymphatic system, making your immune system unable to complete its function, which is attack and battle infections.

At first I was in shock and constantly asking myself “why me? why at this young age?”. But after the initial shock I started looking for information, educating myself and learning about this disease and made up my mind that I was going to fight this till the end.

It has been hard and it does take a lot of courage but it is possible and it’s totally worth it, because you are fighting for the ultimate price: TO SURVIVE, to get to live a little longer.

Everyone out there is fighting a battle you know nothing about, be gentle, be KIND.

LOLA
